Holy Child's Health Ministry
Organized in the autumn of 2000, the Health Ministry promotes health and wellness within our parish community.
Our initial focus was on sponsoring educational presentations based on an 'interest' survey and on outreach to the ill and shut-ins.
We have sponsored wonderful Healing Masses, given rides, rocked babies, "listened", provided meals to families with new babies, compiled a resource/ information library, and prayed with and for the ill.
Join us! We welcome EVERYONE with a caring heart and a wee bit of time to reach out to others! Our monthly meeting (September through May only) is held in Holy Child Church on the morning of the first Tuesday of the month (normally at 10 a.m. but please check the bulletin).
Help with Meals? If you would like to make a meal once in a while for people who are recovering from surgery, families who have a new baby, etc. Interested? Call Mary Fahsbender at 724-7977.
Reminder to New Moms: Our parish Health Ministry Committee provides meals for new moms and the family. For more information, call Mary Fahsbender 724-7977 .
Drivers are needed to transport folks to appointments or cancer treatments, etc. To offer your help, call the parish office and leave your name and phone number. The Health Ministry Committee is seeking to help fill this need in our parish.
Baby Furniture and Supplies… Are you having grandchildren or other young children visiting? Do you need a high chair, booster seat, infant bath tub, crib, and/or pack-and-play for use for a few days and hate to purchase the same? The Health Ministry Committee has these items available for you to borrow as needed. Call Dotty Welsh 662-2057.
Are you in need of a wheel chair, walker, cane, potty chair, toilet riser, hospital bed, or other supplies for assistance and / or rehabilitation? Our parish Health Ministry Committee has these items to lend at no charge. If you need information as to what is available, call Dotty Welsh 662-2057.
If your baby or grandchild has outgrown a certain size diaper before the package was used up, please consider donating them to the Parish Health Ministry. You may leave them in back of the churches or call Dotty Welsh. With the Knights of Columbus, we have Mass on potluck dinner to honor our Veterans. We support Endless Mountains Pregnancy Center, Seeds of Hope, the Tioga County Homeless Initiative, and organize the Pro-Life activities for our parish (Oct. Life Chain, Jan. Stand for Life , Pro-Life Christmas cards, and free bumper stickers). Health Ministry has a free lending library of books and videos in the vestibule of Holy Child Church.
